Osman Stafa writes: According to the information that has reached me, the medication Ventolin (salbutamol) has been missing from Albanian pharmacies for at least 4 months. This is a drug used by asthmatics.
Quoting: “According to the World Health Organization, people suffering from asthma experience narrowed airways, producing more mucus and problems breathing. A severe episode can be life-threatening, as there is a risk of suffocation. In this regard, Ventolin is a medication that saves millions of lives every year and, although it does not cure the disease, it is a treatment administered in inhaler form that serves as a ‘rescue,’ reducing inflammation in the airways and returning them to normal within minutes.”
So, this medication, which is so important for asthmatics, is missing, and there is no information as to why this is happening. Many people who have written to me report being concerned, as this situation has alarmed them, and they have resorted to finding the medication through illegal means. However, even the black market is not meeting the market’s needs.
Competent authorities need to intervene immediately to resolve the situation, as this is a very serious situation for asthmatics who rely on this medication.
